Issue 2

In this issue...
Introduction from Claire McGhee, Head of Marketing

It's been an extremely busy few months since our last issue, preparing for the 2016/17 service and on producing extra resources to help you explain to prospective students and their families what finance is available through Student Finance England.

To help students get ready to apply for their student finance, we’re holding our annual Student Money Week from 8-14 February on The Student Room. We’re planning more live web chats and events than ever before aimed not only at students, but for you too. Our lead article in this issue focuses on Postgraduate Loans a new product launching in the summer for students considering post graduate study for the first time this year and we have an introductory resources pack available now to help support you and your students. We’re also holding a surgery on this during Student Money Week, so if you or your students have any questions about this, our experts will be on hand to answer them.

What’s coming up

In the coming year we expect to have a renewed focus on helping students, and those already in repayment, understand how student loan repayment works and what they need to do to stay on top of it. Given the many challenges and issues that we face over the next couple of years including the 2012 cohort moving into repayment, there’s a need to review our marketing communication activities to make sure everyone has the information they need. We want to hear from you, so please tweet us @SF_Exchange using the hashtag #SFErepayment and take a look at our new repayment quick start guide for students who started their course on or after 1 September 2012.

Last, but by no means least, as part of our commitment to become a digital, customer-focused centre of excellence, we’re transforming the way we deliver information and guidance to our partners. We’re building a new online training platform to deliver student finance training and support for teachers and other student advisors. We hope this will offer everyone much greater flexibility about when and where they access the training and also to pick and choose the topics which are most relevant to them. More about the new service in the next issue.

As always, we’d really like to know what topics you’d like to read about in our next issue, so email us at exchange@slc.co.uk and let us know

I hope you enjoy this issue of Exchange,

Claire McGhee
Head of Marketing
