▌Getting paid in 2016/17 - simple steps to help your students
We make it easy for you to help your students get paid on time.

If you work with students studying at university or college in academic year 2016/17, it’s easy for you to help them make sure their money is sorted before the start of term.Here’s some simple steps that students can follow to help them get their money:

• If they’ve already applied online, encourage them to log back into their student finance account and check that their application has been approved.
• They also need to make sure they’ve sent in any supporting evidence we’ve asked for, as well as making sure they’ve signed and returned their declaration form – we can’t pay them until they do this
• When they start their course, it’s really important that they register at their university or college, who will then confirm to us that they have registered. Again, we can’t pay them until this happens.
• Encourage your students to check that their bank details are up to date by logging into their account, where they can also check payment dates and the status of their application.
• Loans and grants are paid in three instalments at the start of each term – the Maintenance Loan (along with any Maintenance Grant) directly to the student’s bank account, and the Tuition Fee Loan directly to the university or college.
• Students should allow a few working days for the money to reach their account – and if it’s still not there, let them know they are likely to be better off contacting their bank before they contact us.

Finally, if they haven’t applied yet – don’t panic! It’s not too late. Your students can still apply, but it can take up to six weeks to process their application.
